Metal Art
Creatives create, and Donald is no exception.
Donald came to love metal growing up with a mining engineering father who would take him to mines and other field trips. As a child, he built stuff, took things apart and had parents who encouraged his curiosity, interests, and education.
All art is available to purchase. Call us for information.
Forge-Inflated Metal Art
Donald makes forge-inflated art by welding two pieces of metal together. He welds a threaded pipe into the object through which he pumps compressed air. Through heat and high-pressure air, the steel expands into the shape required.
To colour the item, he applies flame heat and finishes with a clear urethane coat to protect the colour.
Annual Eastside Culture Crawl
Every year for the Eastside Culture Crawl, Donald creates at least one unusual piece of metal art that will engage attendees – especially children.
He wants people to touch and interact with the art. To that effect, he created a steel violin, steel marionettes, a weathervane, and a bicycle-powered pipe organ, among many other items.
