Industry Training

Two employees hammer and shape metal at the forge and anvil during training.
Blacksmith training, including fabrication and welding, is available for organizations that want to upgrade their employees’ in-house industry skills.
After 22 years of teaching students at UBC’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, I can adapt training to organizational and individual needs. I teach fabricating, blacksmithing and welding.
If your business requires employee training or skills upgrading, I will meet with you to evaluate your needs. Once we confirm the objectives and content, I design the training and present an overview and a quote for your approval.
If your business has the equipment and space for teaching, I deliver training on-site. Metro Vancouver Regional District’s sewer division hired me to train their staff. We held the program in their shop and mine, as well. My shop can accommodate two people for specialized personal attention and training.

Individual Lessons
Would you like to learn fabrication, blacksmithing, and welding, or other metalwork skills? Do you have a project that needs some hands-on help?
You may want to create an art object or a tool for practical use. If you are already working on a project, you can send me a photo of your design or project. We’ll create something appropriate for your level of expertise and figure out the right approach for you. Anything is possible.
We always begin with a safety orientation, and you’ll need appropriate footwear. Otherwise, I provide everything else at my studio. I am insured to teach a maximum of 2 people in my shop at a time.
The fee for private or semi-private classes is $120 per hour per student and does not include materials or consumables, which are additional costs.
